New opportunities for interaction between Johnson & Johnson’s subsidiary companies transform this outdated office park into a vibrant and engaged campus.

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) subsidiaries ASP, Acclarent, Mentor, and Biosense Webster Inc. have consolidated onto this campus from locations spread across southern California. Together they increase campus staff by 200% (1200 people) and increase occupied floors from 7 to 10. With staff located in disorganized and often empty buildings, J&J realized creating new space would not solve their problems. Deciding to consolidate departments onto one underutilized campus, they saw this as an opportunity to implement a more progressive work environment and increase capacity while reducing their real estate holdings. In line with the J&J workplace guidelines called Workplace Innovations (WI), the renovated building is divided into “neighborhoods” with dedicated amenity and meeting space. The main goal of the design is to create a collaborative work environment that maximizes space, minimizes churn costs, eliminates status assignment discrepancies, and allows for future growth
